Why Video Must Be Part of Your Hiring Strategy

Recruiters should be making more use of YouTube to attract candidates, according to research presented by HireRabbit, a US social recruiting specialist. Their report shows that currently, Youtube is the third most trafficked site in the world after Google and Facebook, based on Alexa data, and is the second largest search engine in the world behind google. And in 2011, Youtube had one trillion views which equates to 140 views for every person on the planet. In short, if jobseekers search for your business on google, there is a good chance they will also search for you on Youtube – and if you are not there you are missing out on a key opportunity to connect with candidates.

Higher job advert response rates

If we look down into the detail of the HireRabbit data, we find two very compelling stats which suggest that YouTube company presentations should be a core part of your hiring strategy, and these are:

  1. Job Postings with video icons (on Careerbuilder) are viewed 12% more than postings without video
  2. Job Postings with video icons (on Careerbuilder) receive a 34% greater application rate than postings without video

Increase visitor numbers and engagement levels  with your company careers site

The research also shows that the regular posting of videos on your site can lead to a 200 to 300% increase in monthly visitors and a 100% longer average time spent on your site. So, posting video is a great way to increase both visitor numbers and engagement with your site
