BBC High Earners 2024/25: Gender Gap Still Casts a Long Shadow
The BBC has released its 2024/25 list of presenters and broadcasters earning more than £178,000—a transparency move that continues to shine an uncomfortable spotlight on persistent gender inequality at the top of public broadcasting.
Out of the 68 names published, only 24 are women. And as pay brackets rise, female representation falls even further.
Still a Man’s World at the Very Top
Once again, the top earners’ list is dominated by men. Only three women make it into the top 10 this year: Zoe Ball, Fiona Bruce, and Laura Kuenssberg.
At the summit sits Gary Lineker, commanding a salary of £1.35 million, unchanged from the previous year. Meanwhile, Zoe Ball’s pay has been dramatically reduced—from nearly £950,000 to just over £515,000. Despite hosting a flagship BBC Radio 2 show, she now earns less than half her previous salary.
