LEGO Disney Princess Advent Calendar 2026 Review: LEGO 43298
Chocolate is nice, but finding Ariel, Moana or Mushu behind your Advent calendar door is arguably a little more exciting.
The LEGO Disney Princess Advent Calendar 2026 (43298) combines 24 days of LEGO surprises with characters from several Disney films, including The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Moana and Mulan.
There are 290 pieces in total, including four Disney Princess microdolls, four animal characters and numerous small festive builds. Better still, once you’ve opened the doors, the box transforms into a game board that can be used with the characters you’ve collected.
It’s aimed at children aged five and over and looks like a particularly good Christmas countdown for youngsters who are already fans of both LEGO and Disney Princesses.

What’s in the LEGO Disney Princess Advent Calendar 2026?
The LEGO Disney Princess Advent Calendar 2026 contains 24 individual surprises spread across the countdown to Christmas.
The headline attractions are four Disney Princess microdolls:
- Ariel
- Cinderella
- Moana
- Mulan
They’re joined by four familiar Disney companions:
- Sebastian
- Gus
- Pua
- Mushu
That gives you eight recognisable characters rather than filling the calendar entirely with generic Christmas builds.
The remaining doors contain small LEGO models and accessories that gradually create a festive Disney scene.
What LEGO Builds Do You Get?
There is an entertaining mixture of conventional Christmas items and builds inspired by the different Disney characters.
Among the surprises are a gingerbread castle, Christmas tree, fireplace and wreath, presents, toy train, campfire and marshmallow.
But things become more Disney-specific as the calendar progresses.
There’s a palm tree, spinning dance floor, piano, music stand, gong, stage and drums.
The musical theme helps tie the different Disney characters together. It also gives children something to actually do with the models once they’ve finished opening the calendar rather than simply ending up with 24 unrelated miniature LEGO builds.
The Box Becomes a Disney Board Game
This is probably the cleverest feature of LEGO Disney Princess Advent Calendar 43298.
Once you’ve started opening the calendar, the box itself can be transformed into a game board.
There’s a buildable spinner and the eight Disney characters can be used as playing pieces, allowing up to eight people to play.
That’s a nice idea because one of the weaknesses of some toy Advent calendars is what happens after Christmas.
Opening a little LEGO model every morning is exciting during December, but you can be left with a collection of tiny builds once the countdown is over.
Turning the packaging into a game gives the characters a purpose beyond Christmas Eve.
Four Disney Worlds in One Calendar
Another strength is the choice of characters.
Rather than concentrating on a single Disney film, LEGO has mixed together four very different Disney Princess worlds.
Ariel brings The Little Mermaid, Cinderella represents one of Disney’s classic animated fairy tales, Mulan adds Mushu, while Moana and Pua bring a more tropical feel to the collection.
That variety should make the Disney Princess Advent Calendar 2026 particularly suitable for children who enjoy Disney generally rather than having one favourite Princess.
It also creates plenty of opportunities for imaginative crossover stories.
Mulan and Ariel sharing a Christmas party probably isn’t Disney canon, but LEGO has never been particularly constrained by such details.
Is LEGO Disney Princess Advent Calendar 43298 Suitable for a 5-Year-Old?
LEGO recommends the set for children aged 5+, putting it towards the younger end of its Advent calendar range.
The individual daily models are deliberately small and manageable.
That’s important for an Advent calendar.
You don’t necessarily want a complicated 45-minute LEGO build at 7:15 on a school morning when you’re also trying to find shoes, make breakfast and get everyone out of the door.
Instead, children get a small daily building activity and then add the finished model or character to their growing collection.
Younger children may occasionally need help, but that can also make opening each door a nice shared December routine.
More Than a Disposable Advent Calendar
At 290 pieces, this isn’t a huge LEGO set, but comparing the piece count with a normal set slightly misses the point.
You’re paying for the Advent calendar format, Disney licence, characters and the experience of revealing something new every day.
More importantly, the LEGO doesn’t disappear on 25 December.
The microdolls, animal figures and accessories can be incorporated into other LEGO Disney sets children already own.
The board-game feature should also extend the life of the original calendar.
That’s a considerable advantage over chocolate and many novelty Advent calendars.
Is It a Good Christmas Gift?
The LEGO Disney Princess Advent Calendar 2026 works particularly well as an early Christmas present.
Give it at the end of November rather than putting it under the tree on Christmas morning and the child gets almost an entire month of entertainment from it.
It’s likely to be particularly suitable for children who:
- love Disney Princess films
- already collect LEGO Disney sets
- enjoy small daily building projects
- like imaginative character play
- prefer toys to chocolate Advent calendars
It could also work well for siblings. Although they’ll have to agree who gets to open each door, the finished board game supports several players.
LEGO Disney Princess Advent Calendar vs a Regular LEGO Set
A conventional LEGO Disney set will generally provide a larger single build.
The Advent calendar offers a different experience.
Its appeal is the 24-day countdown.
Each morning there’s another character, accessory or small model waiting behind a door. The collection gradually expands as Christmas approaches.
So, if you’re primarily interested in getting the maximum amount of LEGO for your money, a conventional set may make more sense.
If you’re buying specifically to make December more exciting, the Advent calendar has the advantage.
Is the LEGO Disney Princess Advent Calendar 2026 Worth Buying?
For the right child, there’s a lot to like about LEGO Disney Princess Advent Calendar 2026 (43298).
The selection of Ariel, Cinderella, Moana and Mulan means the calendar isn’t dependent on a child loving one particular Disney movie, while Sebastian, Gus, Pua and Mushu add some particularly appealing character surprises.
The 290-piece count provides 24 days of manageable LEGO activities rather than a single large construction project.
But the game-board idea may be its best feature.
Instead of Christmas Eve marking the end of the calendar, children can bring together the characters and builds they’ve collected throughout December and continue playing with them.
For a Disney-loving child aged five or over, that’s a considerable improvement on discovering that today’s Advent calendar surprise is simply another tiny square of chocolate.
