A Guide To Helping Your Small Business Make A Big Impression
Can a small business make a big impression? It certainly can! You might think that you need to work extra hard to make a big impression, but this is not the case. Read on for some steps you can take that will help your business to make a great first impression on everybody who comes into contact with it.
1.Act Bigger Than You Are
You can take this as far as you like. Some won’t want to do this and that’s fine. It might suit your brand that you’re just a couple of people working in a small office, or even one person working from home. However, depending on what type of business you are, it might benefit you to act bigger than you are. How do you do this? There are a few ways:
- Buy a business phone number and PO box
- Give yourself a different title – if you’re the ‘CEO’ then people will wonder why you haven’t delegated your communications
- Refer to your business as ‘we’ rather than ‘I’
2. Make Your Values Clear
If you’re going to make a big impression, then you need to make your values clear. They will then shine through in everything you do. Make sure your whole team is on board. Why did you start this business in the first place? What value would you like to add? What are your long term goals? Make sure you have thought all of this through and think about how you can incorporate it every day. Your message and values are everything.
3. Spend A Lot Of Time Defining Your Brand
Defining your brand so that it’s memorable is a must. People should be able to glance at your brand and know who you are. What colors suit what you’re trying to do? How can you design a memorable logo? How can you be consistent across all platforms? How do you want your brand voice to sound? Take your time with this part!
4. Find New Ways To Get Your Name Out There
There are so many ways to get your name out there, so don’t be afraid to shake things up from time to time. See if you can visit an exhibition with similar businesses and you never know who you might network with. All you need is a good modular exhibition stand, the right lay out, motivated staff and a plan for following up!
5. See If You Can Make A Big Impact
See if you can make a big impact – in your community, for example. Could you sponsor a sport’s team, donate to charity, or walk shelter dogs? You might be able to get some publicity, but even if you don’t, word will spread.
6. Dominate One Platform
It’s a good idea to have multiple platforms, but choose to dominate the one where you feel your audience spend the most time. You can put a big focus on this, building your following and posting quality content consistently.
