Wired Vs Cordless Tools: Which Are Better?

Reliability
Due in part to the emergence of specialist dealers like Milwaukee, there are now plenty of quality wired and cordless tools on the market. However, the general reliability of each type of tool remains the same (although this will largely depend on price, too).
Wired tools tend to be the most reliable, given that they are powered by electricity and thus never need recharging. Cordless tools, on the other hand, either need their batteries recharging or replacing on a regular basis, meaning that they can also stop working without warning, making them less reliable than wired tools in some instances.
Durability
One of the most significant metrics of the durability of a tool is how well it is made, which will affect how often it needs to be replaced. Whilst wired and cordless tools may have differed greatly in their durability in the past, it is now fair to say that both types are usually well manufactured and capable of fulfilling their purpose without risk of being (easily) damaged.
A wired tool, however, does suffer from the risk of the wire becoming damaged, something which can easily happen in a workspace filled with heavy/sharp objects. Cordless tools, on the other hand, do not have this problem, and could potentially last longer if treated well.
Portability
One of the main advantages which cordless tools hold over wired tools is their portability. Those who use tools on a daily basis (for a living) will most likely want to invest in tools which they can transport easily, and use in almost any setting.
Whilst wired tools may offer a greater degree of power and effectiveness when used for any given task, they cannot be used in placed where there is no mains electricity. As such, cordless tools can certainly be useful in helping you complete a wider range of jobs.
Price
As previously mentioned, the price bracket for each type of tool will vary depending on size, make, and quality. Traditionally, however, cordless tools generally tend to be cheaper compared to their wired counterparts, given that they generally pack less firepower and quality parts.
That being said, developments in technology are allowing for cordless tools with greater battery life and much better parts, so prices are likely to level out in the near future.
Cordless tools certainly seem to come out on top overall, especially given their potential for development in the future. That being said, both types are useful for different tasks, so it is well worth looking at each before choosing which to purchase.
