Successfully Recruiting on Social Media

The main aim of recruitment is to find the right person for the right role and the right time and to do this every time. It really isn’t easy, especially if you’re a new business owner or manager who has no prior experience of hiring people.

It’s especially difficult to recruit the right people today because there are so many different mediums via which it is possible to do your recruiting. In this post, we’re going to take a look at recruitment via social media and how to do it successfully…

Create an Accurate Online Presence

When you took that decision to buy a café, set up a shop or start your own cleaning business, you probably didn’t think much about recruitment at all. You were probably more concerned with business plans and understanding your commercial finance options, actually getting a business loan, finding the right property, and sourcing the best products possible. Now, you need to think about hiring the right employees who fit your company and who will be an asset to you. This starts with your image.

By incorporating open banking principles and exploring revenue based loan options, you can enhance your hiring process and attract individuals who align with your company’s values and goals. This holistic approach ensures that your business not only secures the right financial foundations but also builds a strong and cohesive team for sustained success.

Why? Because when you have a very clearly defined image, you will immediately start attracting people with the same values and goals as your own. So, when you’re setting up a Facebook page or posting on Instagram, stay true to yourself and reflect your brand if you want to attract the best employees.

Target Your Recruitment Efforts

There are so many people on social media that it can be difficult finding the right ones, but you absolutely must do this if you plan to recruit via this particular medium. Posting vacancies in local groups is always a good idea, but try to target the kinds of local groups that are likely to be most fruitful. For example, if you’re looking to hire a marketing creative, posting in local photography, arts and writing groups might prove more fruitful than posting on the local buying and selling page.

Look at their Profiles

If someone expresses interest in applying for a position with you, add them as a friend, take a look at their profile and try to get a feel for them. You can find out so much about a person from their social media presence today that it would be foolish not to give it a look.

Approach Individuals

If you’ve happened to notice someone on social media who you think could be a good fit for your company, don’t be afraid to approach them. Even if you’ve simply noticed them in a group you’re both a part of, and you have no personal connection, it’s unlikely they’re going to be offended by you asking them if they would like to apply for a job – most people will be flattered.

Include an Instruction

When you advertise a job vacancy on Facebook or Twitter, for example, be sure to include a sentence like; ‘ When you apply, please include the phrase ‘puppy dogs’ in your cover letter.’ Why? Because social media tends to elicit a lot of replies and this is a simple way to cut down on the number of applications you have to wade through immediately.

Social media is a great recruitment tool if you use it right, but remember it isn’t the only one and a mixture of approaches is most likely to help you find the perfect candidate.
