Want To Provide Better HR? Look At The Obvious

Often, simple truths are the most effective, and the most appropriate over time. It’s always important to consider these truths as you move from day to day, and try to better your business through various pursuits. This is because while complexity should never be feared, often, the simplest solution can be one of the best solutions. In your search to provide better HR, this all applies.

We often think of humans as vastly complex beings. This is because they are. However, the treatment that your employees respond well to, your ability to take care of them and the protections you must apply are often quite straightforward. There is absolutely zero reason to begin the most complex program-development or getting too technical in your psychological application of them if you have yet to provide the very basic needs your team have.

But remember, HR is not only about helping your staff resources smoothly enjoy their work and build a healthy life at your firm, but that you’re helping your firm use its labor in the best and most optimized manner possible. For that reason, you might consider the following advice:

Hire Better People

It sounds like an objectionable theory. After all, how are you supposed to apply the metric ‘better’ here? Well, it depends on your ability to view the personalities of those you hire. See how they are. Speak to them outside of the realm of your workplace and their credentials. If you work for somewhere active, such as a gym, work out with the applicant to see how they act under stress. Run a test shift with them. Ensure they are cogent, know what they are doing, and how their personality manifests.

When you hire someone who seems grateful to be there, is polite and expressive, there’s every chance that their negative interactions will be reduced, that they’ll come forward confidentially instead of causing a scene in the office, and on top of all that, will be much more interested in engaging with any HR programs you have to offer. After all, you have full control over who you hire, and so considering how they might affect HR in the back of your mind can be an ideal.

But be careful not to assign this kind of value to someone who you think will simply keep quiet and never complain. That’s not a healthy company policy to adopt. Rather, find people who will engage, who will hold high standards, who has an ideal office environment in mind. This way, they also become helpful. It starts with writing an effective recruitment ad. From there, you never know the positivity and potential benefits they can yield.

Take Inspiration From Parallel Company Culture

The best businesses look around their field of vision and try to take excellent methods from others, or at least improve upon them. This means that looking at businesses with a highly satisfied company culture can help you consider how you might best care for your employees, and also get the best out of them.

Of course, you might not offer a snack bar, fireman poles or bean bag chairs as Silicon Valley companies are known to do. But you can decide to take inspiration from parallel company culture. Perhaps they simply space out their offices well, so that people have ample space to conduct their work. Perhaps the kitchen is immaculate, because we all know the bonding power of a hot cup of coffee. Perhaps, just perhaps, their HR department is more fully staffed than yours, despite having equal or less than the amount of employees in total. You can always pick up tips no matter where you are, so be sure you’re not too headstrong to take them.

Satisfaction Surveys

Sometimes, the best thing to do is try to figure out where you’re going right or wrong. Implement anonymous satisfaction surveys, and keep the results confidential and away from your HR staff. This can help you find out how your processes are working, if they need tailoring, and what you might do to improve the benefits and mitigate the errors.

On top of that, consider how your HR staff feel in their role. Can they conduct their job efficiently? Can they feel as though they have somewhere to turn themselves? When you take a cohesive look at things, and never brush the results under the rug, you’ll have a much better time of it.

With these tips, providing HR can be a fantastic means of overcoming the issues you may have.
