Four Career Options for People Who Don’t Like to Work
America is a country of hard workers. We’re overstressed, overworked, and we refuse to take a break because we’re scared of looking like a slacker to our managers. All that pressure at work translates to a workforce that is tired, cranky, and retreats from life’s simple pleasures.
Most of us don’t like working, but we’re stuck working anyway. Believe it or not, but you’re a lot less stuck than you think.
Here are four career options that are perfect if you’re looking for a gig that doesn’t feel like work.
Stock Trader
One of the best ways to make money without really working a day in your life is to trade stocks. That doesn’t mean becoming a stock broker. Many of them work endless hours.
Instead, become your own stock trader.
It takes quite a bit of know-how and a heaping dose of risk, but if you do it right, you can make thousands or even millions of dollars. All without technically working a day in your life.
Writers and Authors
The stock market isn’t for everyone. It’s especially not for those of us who don’t like to take risks with our money, or who need to express ourselves a little more creatively. Being a writer or an author could be an option.
Becoming an author can be difficult because you have to be published and your books have to be relatively popular in order to make any money. But, as a writer, you have many more options.
You can write for a magazine, start a blog, or write web content. Many of these jobs can be done at home, so not only do you get to do something you enjoy, you may be able to do it in your pajamas.
Work in the Arts
Writing isn’t for everyone, but that doesn’t mean you’re any less creative. There are all kinds of ways you can start a career in the arts. A few ideas include:
- Dancer
- Painter or artist
- Musician
- Sculptor
It’s true that you may not make a ton of money on the artwork itself, but if you have a skill, there are always people who are willing to pay to learn. The arts are especially important to childhood development, and working with kids is usually a lot of fun.
Fitness Instructors
More interested in taking a jog than putting a paintbrush to canvas? Consider becoming a fitness instructor! They generally work fewer hours than the average American, they never have to go to the office, and they’re able to squeeze their workout in throughout the day as they help clients become more fit and healthy.
No one likes to work, but so few people are willing to do anything about it. If you’re ready to escape the grind and do something that doesn’t feel like work, give one of the things on this list a try. You’ll wonder why you didn’t take the leap and switch careers sooner!
